Position Summary

This position manages day to day operations of the Cash Application process within the Billing Center. The role is tasked with continually educating company workforce on cash posting via manual and automated updates and guidelines.  Additionally, this role supports all tasks and functions within the Billing Center.



Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage staff to include selection, work allocation, training, coaching and mentoring, problem resolution, performance evaluation and feedback and corrective action
  • Communicate insurance company updates to company workforce
  • Develop departmental protocol manual for individual department within Billing Center in order to ensure transparency and streamline training
  • Oversee credential and revalidation processes for Physical & Occupational Therapists and company centers
  • Educate and delegate credentialing protocols to clinic personnel
  • Ensure receipt of government mandated and national identifiers
  • Follow-up with clinicians in order to collect required data for insurance carriers and government agencies
  • Prepare, audit and review demographic and billing data in order to ensure accuracy
  • Ensure aggressive follow-up on unpaid claims with outstanding dates of service
  • Cultivate relationships with insurance carriers and third party administrators
  • Update and disseminate fee schedule using discretion and upon request
  • Audit staff productivity in order to ensure accuracy in payment posting, application of adjustments, collections and credentialing
  • Prepare, audit and review transaction data in order to ensure accuracy
  • Ensure daily tasks are completed to ensure timely posting
  • Audit staff productivity in order to ensure accuracy in application of payments, adjustments and balancing
  • Oversee the claims submission process
  • Analyze workload and ensure parity on direct reports’ assignments
  • Process and distribute Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) batches
  • Manage the claims re-file process and ensure claims that contain inaccurate payments are resubmitted
  • Process weekly statement reports and balance waiver forms
  • Maintain reason code libraries
  • Ensure timely referral of delinquent accounts to external collection vendors
  • Oversee “Do Not Bill’ accounts
  • Ensure accuracy of daily or monthly patient statements
  • Ensure timely execution of patient balance, bankruptcy, collection process, self-pay or no insurance and monthly payment plans
  • Provide high level customer service both internally and externally in order to ensure account integrity

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate bi-weekly department meetings
  • Help lead Billing Center Manager Meetings and Billing Center staff meetings
  • Meet with clearinghouse representative periodically
  • Perform other duties as required


Qualifications

Job Requirements/Specifications

Education and Experience:  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including proficiency with Excel, MS Word and Outlook
  • Must have prior collection experience
  • Two to three years collection supervisory experience in a healthcare environment preferred
  • Knowledge/experience with NG Systems or other medical software systems
