Position Summary

The Clinical Massage Therapist will serve as an assistant to the clinicians and office staff. Under general supervision, assist physical and occupational therapy staff in performing clinical massage and manual therapy techniques as prescribed by patient’s referring physician or per the attending clinician’s discretion. Develops and implements massage treatment and therapy plans. Develop, maintain and grow one-on-one “pay for service” massage therapy program. Assist the office coordinator & clinical staff by performing requested administrative & clinical duties.



Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical massage and manual therapy techniques as prescribed by patient’s referring physician or per the attending clinician’s discretion.
  • Provide massage services to patients/clients and provide safe, appropriate and effective massage techniques.
  • Responsible for communicating objective and assessment findings of patient care to the physical or occupational therapists.
  • Performs health history on clients or consults with therapist to ascertain precautions for massage prior to each session. Responsible for interpreting health intake form, determining contraindications, indications and treatment plans.
  • Consult with appropriate treatment staff regarding treatment plans when necessary
  • Explain procedures and applies techniques appropriate to client needs and preferences.
  • Responsible for patient education pertaining to the health benefits of clinical massage therapy.
  • Assisting clinical staff with patient care by anticipating both therapist and patient needs.
  • Assisting in the administration of modalities under clinician’s direction.
  • Maintaining a set schedule for work hours while demonstrating flexibility when necessary.
  • Responsible for performing massage therapy as a “pay for service” product, within the scope of
  • practice set by the State Board of Massage Therapy.
  • Responsible for scheduling and maintenance of appointments; assists in collection of fees
  • Responsible for tracking weekly productivity and filling out appropriate paperwork for payroll, discounts and daily sales.
  • Responsible for documenting all “pay for service” massage treatments
  • Maintains client confidentiality and sensitivity to age and gender related issues during all client interactions; reports any unusual client interactions to supervisor immediately
  • Observe client reaction to massage and modify as necessary. Solicits feedback and responds accordingly
  • Documents therapy in accordance with policies and procedures regarding medical records;
  • implements and adheres to policies which ensure patient confidentiality
  • Responsible for developing individual marketing plans and goals.
  • Communicates with Regional Massage Therapy Contacts with reports on number of clinical patients treated per day, physician and patient marketing, referral sources, “pay for service” treatments.
  • Maintaining physical environment of facility.
  • Cleaning and equipment logs.
  • Event coverage for marketing with dance, and races as needed
  • Assisting Office Coordinator in keeping track of both non-medical and medical supplies for clinic.
  • Assisting with any other duties or special projects determined by the facility manager. This includes but is not limited to administrative support, scheduling, filing, discharge paperwork, typing and mailing progress notes, daily client paperwork, patient weekly follow-up, answering phones, cleaning, laundry

Education and Experience: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Degree from a Accredited Massage School
  • Certified by the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork with a PASS
  • score on the Board’s Examination
  • Valid, undisciplined Massage Therapy License issued by the Illinois Department of Professional
  • Regulation
  • Previous clinical experience preferred
  • Professional, energetic and a team player
  • Able to demonstrate compassion toward patients
  • Complete tasks thoroughly
